- Get 1/4+ 1/4 tsp Asafetida
- Prepare 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
- Get For seasoning (Tadka)

- Wash with water and soak the dals in water for 2/3 hrs. Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles, with Turmeric powder and Asafetida. Keep aside. Mash the Dal partially.
- Heat oil a Kadai. Add Mustard (splutter), Cumin, Curry leaves, Clove etc., (mentioned for Tadka), Dry red Chillies & sauté. Add the Onions and sauté till translucent. Add Ginger garlic paste and sauté till raw smell is gone.
- Add chopped Tomato and sauté till mushy. Add Red Chilli powder, Turmeric Powder, Coriander Powder, Asafetida and mix well.
- Add the Cooked dal with water (to desired consistency) along with Salt to taste and Garam Masala. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. Transfer to serving bowl and Garnish with finely chopped Cilantro. Serve hot with Indian breads or with Rice.
